This site is a tribute to Sean Michael Sockett, who was born in Pontefract on December 03, 1987. Sean is much loved and will always be remembered. Our wonderful son, brother, uncle, grandson, nephew and best friend to many.
Sean had an amazing spirit, and always found time for everyone he knew and loved, he would always enjoy the moment whatever he was doing . Sean loved his life, he enjoyed many adventures. He loved to travel to different countries, with his family first then with many of his friends from college university or new friends from his workplace. He loved all his outdoor pursuits up in the lake district up the mountains and on the lakes, and very much enjoyed his time in a yurt with his friends, and was always up for anything to do with fun and laughter and adventure .
It is a comfort to his family and friends to know that did such a lot in his short life was happy and had lots of wonderful friends and lived life to the full.
Sean loved running and going to the gym. He did a charity run for Clic Sergant children's Cancer Appeal, helping to raise funds towards a family room for the family of the child having treatment . Sean was studying geography at Sheffield University at that time and enjoyed keeping fit in his time off from his studies,
Sean always helped others where he could, and became a blood donor at a young age as soon as he could his donations were 30+ by the age of 30 years old.
It is so hard to comprehend how such a healthy fit clean living young man could be a victim of a stroke.
He has left an imprint on all our lives, his kind caring helpful ways, Sean's beautiful smile and his wicked sense of humour we all loved and miss so dearly. His Life is our beautiful memory.
Sean collapsed at his home on the 14/8/2018 and was on life support for 11 days on ICU ward L6, and passed away on 25/8/2018 at Leeds General Infirmary due to a Brainstem Stroke.
We saw first hand that faciliities for families in emergency situations were few and far between going home was not an option either. we needed to be as near to Sean as possible at this crucial time, for the next 24 hours , so we stayed in the waiting room all night , that was the only place to be near sean .
A much needed family room will be Sean's legacy (Seans Quiet Room) is on the Acute Stroke Ward 21 at Leeds General Infirmary.
(Seans Quiet Room) the family room provides a quiet space for private meetings with families, consultants and all medical staff, a place for quiet time out, for refreshments and rest, or overnight emergency stay. Kirstys personal care bags will be provided if needed.
Think of you everyday Sean. Never forget your smile 😊 Much love, Mandy x
Seans second family room is now to be opened (27-3-2024) at LGI Emergency A&E department . It will help other patients and their families . In memory of a wonderful son brother uncle and friend to many. Thank you very much to all who have contributed in any way to make this happen
Sandra, Mick, Kirsty Thank you. We were able to spend time in Sean's Room when Keith was so ill. We hope this donation goes a little way in helping you with your fundraising. Good Luck with everything that you do. With Love Margaret Brown and all her family. X
