Jamie and I are running the Katy Half Marathon in our new home of Texas on 12.2.22 in memory of Jamie's best friend Sean. 

Sean was Jamie's life long best friend and best man at our wedding,  who tragically passed away in August 2018. Sadly, Sean suffered a brain steam stroke one morning and was rushed to LGI.

Sean was in hospital for almost two weeks, and during that time his family never left his side, having to practically live in the hospital. Sean's family quickly realised the facilities available for families in their tragic situation, were few and far between. 

Being the amazing people Sean's family are, they have spent the last few years raising money and using their time to create 'Sean's Quiet Room'. A comfortable calm space for families to use when leaving the hospital is not an option. This room is up and running on the Acute Stroke ward at LGI and has already proved invaluable to other families. Sandra and the families work doesn't stop now the room is open. Sean's sister has arranged first aid courses in Sean's memory and there are plans to hopefully open a second family room. Jamie and I both know just how proud Sean would be of all the selfless work they are doing in his memory.

Although we haven't been close by for the last few years, we have not stopped supporting the family and keeping them and Sean in our thoughts.  We want to do what we can to help Sean's family continue all the fabulous things they are doing.

Anyone who knows me, knows I’m not a runner... its four years since my first half marathon...that I honestly thought would be my only one! But I've pulled the trainers back on and I'm 'training' as best I can. I'd love to beat my previous time...but I'm not promising anything!
