Sean's Quiet Room

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

We are raising money in memory of our best friend Sean who sadly passed away in August last year from a stroke. Sean was just 30 years old and lived a happy life in Leeds, with his partner Rebecca. Unfortunately he suffered a brain stem stroke one morning and was taken into intensive care at Leeds General Infirmary.

Sean was in hospital for just under two weeks before passing away on the 25th of August 2018. During his time in hospital, his family and partner barely left his side and practically lived in the hospital. Sadly, they had no beds to sleep in and no privacy, simply making do with waiting rooms and corridors on the ward that Sean was in, all while going through the tragedy of their loved one slipping away from them.

To make sure that others in this situation don't go through the same awful experience, we are raising money through Leeds Cares, to set up "Sean's Quiet Room". This will be a room in Leeds General Infirmary, where the families of other people who are in the situation Sean was in can get some much needed rest and privacy.

We are going to be running 3 10ks together in memory of our best friend, the Hull 10k (02/06/19), the Leeds 10k (07/07/19) and the York 10k (04/08/19). We hope to raise as much money as possible as Sean's legacy, in order to stop other families going through what his did.

Thanks!

So that's it! All three runs done and we're all still in one piece... just! We're all so proud of what we've achieved both in terms of doing the runs and raising so much money! Thanks again so much to each and every one of you that's donated, this money will really make a difference to people's lives! We're close to our goal but not quite there yet, so please like and share as much as possible to get us over the line!

So two down now, just one more to go... Records all round today! Tom and Faye completed 10k in an amazing 1:09:57! I managed 41:24! All three of us are quicker than last time and feel immensely proud! We are so grateful for all the support we have received. Thank you all so much for helping us get towards our goal, I'm sure we can do it before our last run on the 4th of August! Thanks again to everyone who had donated and if you haven't, there's still plenty of time! Thanks

So one run down, just two more to go... Tom and Faye completed their first ever 10ks in 1:12:44! An amazing achievement given they are not runners! I also completed a personal record and managed 43:26! Putting me 93rd out of 3039!! We're all very proud of ourselves and each other and are so grateful for all the support we have received. Thank you all so much for helping us reach our goal before the first run! We are going to increase our funding target (not sure what to just yet) to keep the momentum going! Thanks!
